Headlining the annual Nordoff and Robbins Carol Service, presented by OVO, on Tuesday (12.09,) International pop legend Rick Astley brought joy to St Luke’s and Christ Church in Chelsea, London.
Raising more than $60,000.00 for the UK’s largest music therapy charity, Nordoff and Robbins, the star-studded night featured guest performances from up-and-coming talent Chloe Stroll, who opened the show with ‘Home,’ accomplished singer-songwriter Katie Melua who sang ‘The Closest Thing to Crazy’ and ‘Perfect World,’ before being joined by local children from Latymer Prep School for a beautiful rendition of ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,’ and Iconic singer Matt Goss who blended nostalgia with classics ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’ and Carole King’s ‘You’ve Got a Friend.’
The night’s crescendo was a charismatic headline set from Rick Astley, who performed such festive favorites as ‘Winter Wonderland’ and ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’ befoe closing the night with a rousing sing-along to his timeless hit, ‘Never Gonna Give You Up.’
Guest readers, included multi-award-winning songwriter Cathy Dennis and actor James Cosmo, who shared moving festive passages.
Emphasizing the night’s impact. Nordoff and Robbins CEO, Sandra Schembri, thanked the artists and partners, saying “Every note sung and every chord played at the Carol Service directly helps our music therapists to reach more children and adults who rely on music to connect, communicate and express themselves.”
Funding music therapy that transforms lives through the universal language of music, the annual Carol Service has raised millions of dollars since 1997.
