February 11th, 2021 marks the ninth anniversary of Whitney Houston‘s passing. Though no longer with us, the legendary songstress’ iconic songs “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “I Will Always Love You,” “How Will I Know” and others have not slowed down in popularity.
According to the New Jersey native’s own website, Houston is the most awarded female artist of all time amassing some 400+ accolades including six Grammy Awards and 22 American Music Awards.
Over the years, Whitney Houston’s repertoire has remained timeless including Kygo‘s recent take on “Higher Love” that became an instant fan favorite with 500,000,000+ plays on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
In celebration of her life, the most popular Whitney Houston video for “I Will Always Love You” has recognized one billion streams.
To further cement her legacy, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, the highly-anticipated Whitney biopic will be produced by music industry heavyweight Clive Davis along with Larry Mestel, Denis O’Sullivan, Jeff Kalligheri and Anthony McCarten. The film is slated for a 2022 winter holiday release.
