Based on suspicion of driving under the influence, rapper YG has been arrested.
After police officers arrested him earlier Tuesday morning (10.01,), TMZ reported that the superstar rapper had been booked for a misdemeanor DUI.
According to the outlet, the musician (born Keenon Jackson,) was operating his red Lamborghini over a curb in Burbank, California and was standing adjacent to his vehicle when the police arrived on scene.
No other cars were involved in the incident and the hip-hop artist was the only person in the vehicle and appeared to be uninjured.
Following the arrest, a statement from Burbank Police spokesperson confirmed YG had been released from custody:
“Upon contact, Mr. Jackson displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication.” “The officers conducted a DUI investigation to which Mr. Jackson was subsequently arrested and transported to the Burbank PD Jail where he was booked for driving under the influence.”
While YG has yet to comment on the arrest, his attorney, Joe Tacopina, defended his client in a statement issued to People, saying “We will be contesting the allegations, and they are just that – merely allegations.”
Not the first time the now 34-year-old rapper has been arrested, in 2020, days before he was scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards, YG was arrested on suspicion of being involved in a 2018 robbery. Due to lack of evidence, however, the case was dismissed two years later.
In August of this year, YG relesaed his seventh studio album, Just Re’d Up 3.
