Featuring the likes of Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, and Brad Paisley, Post Malone has revealed the star-studded listing for his highly anticipated 18- track country album ‘F-1 Trillion’.
Including the previously released single ‘Pour Me A Drink’ featuring Blake Shelton, Malone recently told his fellow country musician that his mom told him the 2001 song was all about him.
In an interview with American Songwriter, Shelton said:
“Postโs real name is Austin, and he told me that when he was a kid, his mom told him that that song was written about him.” โThatโs what he told me, and he said he believed it. His mom was, I guess, the country music fan in the family, and his dad was the rock guy. So, I guess thatโs how Post Malone was created.โ
Admitting that โHeโs just so excited about music.” Blake added:
โI mean, literally, we spent an hour one night him just with his iPod playing me music that he is fired up about. I still, to this day, have never asked him, โHey, why me? Why did you call me for this?โโ And about not asking why Post selected Blake for the tune, he said โI didnโt because at the end of the day, I just, for whatever reason, he asked me to do it – Iโm proud.” โIโm proud of that record. Iโm proud to have worked with him. I think heโs an incredibly talented guy. Now that Iโve spent some time with him, itโs no mystery to me that heโs as huge as he is as an artist and successful as he is because heโs just somebody that you just love being around. Heโs just so much fun.โ
Talking about Post growing up on country music with the belief that he probably wanted to make a record like ‘F-1 Trillion’ for a while, The Voice’s former judge stated โThis guy grew up in Texas.” โI think just naturally he grew up hearing all this stuff, and so heโs just super excited about country music. I think he probably feels like a new artist again.โ โNow heโs doing it, and you can tell heโs been holding it in for a while, and heโs super fired up about it.”
In addition to the Shelton collaboration, Post’s follow-up to 2023’s ‘Austin’ also features the previously released singles ‘I Had Some Help’, featuring Morgan Wallen, 31, and ‘Guy For That’ with Luke Combs, 34.
