Less than twelve months since Post Malone released his Twelve Carat Toothache, the superstar singer/songwriter returns with “Chemical.”
Along with the just-dropped release comes a video of the musician (born Austin Post) photographed in a variety settings – including the front seat of a truck smoking and a fictitious background of a beach – as he sings “Outside of the party smoking in the car with you/Seven nation army fighting at the bar with you.”“Tell you that I’m sorry/Tell me what I gotta do/Cuz I can’t let go. It’s chemical.”
Alongside a snippet of “Chemical” ahead of the single’s arrival, on Thursday (4.13) Malone wrote on social media “A big cheers to all my big special gamers out there,”
Notwithstanding a cameo appearance on YG’s “Sober” alongside Roddy Ricch, “Chemical” marks the Republic Records’ artist’s first solo single since Twelve Carat Toothache arrived in July of last year.
Though relatively reticent on the music front, Malone’s been making film appearances, as the voice of Ray Fillet in the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and appearing in the Jack Black-starring Christmas comedy Dear Santa, directed by the Farrelly Brothers.
Post Malone is currently on tour in Europe tour through May, after which he’ll return home to headline Napa, California’s BottleRock Festival.
