Following her SNL musical guest stints in 2023 and in 2021, the 23-year old opened her May 2 show slot with “Drop Dead,” written with Amy Allen and longtime collaborator Dan Nigro.
Serving double duty as SNL host and musical guest, Rodrigo has said that her latest album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love will mainly include “sad love songs.”
“I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.” “It was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place,” she explained. “When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!,” she told British Vogue in April.
Scheduled for a June 12 drop. Rodrigo’s new LP follow’s her 2023 Guts and 2021 Sour.
Supported by vocals from Weyes Blood, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter who’s wrapping up a new album herself, Olivia debuted “Begged,” as her second song.
Rodrigo’s 65-date “Unraveled Tour” launches in September in Hartford, Connecticut, and the American leg of the trek ending in February in Brooklyn, before she heads to Europe, wrapping up in Barcelona in early May.
