Seemingly confirming the pop superstar will tie the knot with the Kansas City Chiefs player in the Big Apple over America’s Independence Day weekend, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani dropped a major hint about Taylor Swift‘s wedding to Travis Kelce.
On Monday (is 6.15,) during a press conference, the politician addressed the city’s preparedness for a World Cup match at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, just across the river from New York City, on 5 July, stating that he was “fully confident in the work of the NYPD” to provide a “safe experience” for sports fans, and continued, “We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one.”
In addition to the sporting event, the 34-year old Mayor listed other “big events” scheduled for the three-day holiday weekend, that will mark the 250th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence, stating “We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding all happening at the same time.”
When asked if he had been invited to the big day, Mamdani said he had not, adding “I wish them a lovely wedding. I’ll listen to Only the Young at home on my own,” he quipped, referring to Swift’s 2020 politically-charged song about the 2018 U.S. elections.
The politician’s comments support reports claiming that the Shake It Off singer and sportsman will exchange vows at the famed New York venue, Madison Square Garden.
