Following his 2022 breakthrough LP Stick Season , Noah Kahan has confirmed the April 24 drop of his fourth studio LP, The Great Divide, that was preempted the first titular single on Friday (1.30.)
Taking to Instagram, Noah addressed the album’s theme, writing:
“From a long silence forms a divide, a great expanse demanding attention. I stare across it. I see old friends, my father, my mother, my siblings, my younger self, the great state of Vermont.” “I want to scream these feelings, to gesticulate wildly at the figures on the other side, but my voice has grown hoarse and muted after years of climbing a ladder towards the wild, spiraling dreams that have materialized in front of me.” “Instead, I wrote them down next to a piano in Nashville, next to a pond in Guilford, Vermont, in a legendary studio in upstate New York, on a farm with a fire tower in Only, Tennessee.” “The songs are the words I would say if I could. They are the fears I dance with in the moments before I drift off to sleep. The music here is my best attempt to delve deeper into the people, places, and feelings that have made me who I am. I am grateful for all of it, for all of you, for listening to them, if you choose to do so.”
After Stick Season’s title track became a massive hit for the Vermont native, in 2025 he revealed that he doesn’t mind his music being called a “snooze fest,” explained on social media that he takes it as a “compliment” when people call his work boring as he would enjoy a “fun and restful” time if there were an actual “snoozing festival”.
Taking to his Instagram Story account, the 29-year old singer/songwriter added “When people call my music a snooze fest I take it as a compliment because to me going to an actual snoozing festival sounds fun and restful.”
The Grammy-nominated star additionally joked about the idea of his fans getting some shut-eye during his gigs and “being refreshed and ready to go” once he has played his last song, adding “Everyone there just sleeping side by side refreshed and ready to go after my two hours are up.”
