Making their relationship official, on Friday (10.13) Nelly took to social media with a birthday tribute for his girlfriend Ashanti.
Along with a series of photos of both musicians, the rapper (born Cornell Iral Haynes Jr) wrote “One time for the birthday girl.” “Such a beautiful, an incredible person inside and out and one of the hardest working women. I know.. @ashanti Enjoy your day Ma you look awesome!!!! Happy Birthday Love ya (sic)!”
In response, the songstress (born Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas) commented, “Awwwwww Thanku Big head… love ya (sic)!” And in her own post addressing her 43rd trip around the sun, on Saturday (10.14) she stated:
“This year has been absolutely insanely incredible, and amazing. Which is partially why I’m posting a day late because I had to work last night lol.” “I am truly grateful for so much. Nothing is better than having peace in all aspects of your life.” “It is a true blessing. The world is a scary place right now… so I’m grateful to be able to create my own… and escape from it all. Thank you all again for the outpouring of love it truly means everything to me.”
Following their on-again off-again romance between 2003 and 2013. Nelly and Ashanti rekindled their relationship earlier this year and Nelly’s recent Instagram post marked the first time that either artist acknowledged their newfound commitment via social media.
In a September interview, he stated “We cool again.” “I think it surprised both of us though. It wasn’t anything that I don’t think was planned.”
