A rising rap star in the SoundCloud music scene, 21-year-old Orlando-based Maxon Margiela has died.
Born Maxon Reyes, Mexican media outlet Somos Hermanos reported that the young man had succumbed to his injuries after being hospitalized following a suicide attempt.
Known for his emotive fusion of hip-hop, lo-fi and emo influences, Margiela gained traction with such hits as ‘Sexual Fantasies’ and ‘Suck!’
Men’s Journal confirmed Reyes’ passing through the Orange County Medical Examiner’s office, which stated, “He did pass away.” According to the authorities, the date of death for Reyes was November 16, 2025, and the place of death was listed as Orlando, Florida.
Prior to his passing Reyes had tens of thousands of social media followers across several platforms as well as millions of Spotify streams.
In July, he dropped his second mixtape which included his popular tracks ‘Sexual Fantasies’ and ‘Austin Powers.’
More than a month prior to his death, Reyes took to Instagram with a now-tragic music video snippet where he rapped about the “future” with the caption “Kiss The Future! Out everywhere…”
Devastated fans have flooded the internet with condolences and prayers, with one fan taking to X with “Rest in paradise, Maxon Margiela. Fr one of the most genuine in the scene always brought good energy.”
