Men Shot With Kodak Black Seek $10.6M Damages

Seeking $10,600,000.00 in damages from the rapper, Adam Rahman and Mark Schaefer claim they saw Kodak Black “initiate” the altercation that led to the gunfire that also struck them outside a Justin Bieber-hosted party in 2022.

Scheduled to begin a civil trial this month, the judge vacated the date, and during a Wednesday (8.06,) hearing in Los Angeles, the lawyer for the two plaintiffs told the court that Black was the sole remaining defendant and should be found “in default.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the rapper’s longtime lawyer, Bradford Cohen said “Kodak has never been served with any lawsuit from California.””I find it unusual that they’re attempting to sue the very person who was the most injured out of the individuals who got shot.”

In November of 2024, Rahman and Schaefer asked for a $62,000,000.00 default judgment against Black but were denied the request, citing inadequate proof of damages.  And ith the judge noting the men were required to show proof of medical bills, a follow-up request for $10,600,000.00 was denied last month.

The lawsuit initially named Bieber and the owners of the venue where the shooting happened as defendants alongside Black, but a judge ruled that the shooting was not “foreseeable” to the restaurant, so the corporate defendants were dismissed in June 2024. The plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed Bieber as a defendant a few months later.
