In an interview with Extra, concerning the iconic group’s potential 30th anniversary tour, Mel B addressed speculation of a possible Spice Girls reunion, saying “It’s the 30th anniversary of the Spice Girls Wannabe song next year. We’ve got a year to work on them. Let’s put it that way.”
When pressed about the likelihood of a full Spice Girls trek, the musician (born Melanie Janine Brown) simply replied, “Your guess is as good as mine right now. I’m always game. Always.”
Courtesy of their with their debut single, ‘Wannabe,’ the iconic UK girl group – consisting Mel, Emma Bunton, Melanie C, Geri Horner and Victoria Beckham – burst onto the scene in 1996, and rocketed up the international charts at a time when music was dominated by male Brit-Pop bands like Oasis and Blur.
2026 will mark the three-decade anniversary of the gal group’s debut, and Mel (pka Scary Spice) is confident they will hit the road to mark the event. The last time all five members performed together was at the 2012 Olympics in London following their last 2008 tour as a full band.
Preferring to concentrate on her fashion line rather than singing, Victoria is believed to be the one hampering a full reunion despite Mel, Melanie, Emma and Geri expressing interest in a reunion tour.
Returning to the show after a seven year break, American fans can see Mel returning as a judge on America’s Got Talent that begins today (5.27)
“All my kids are with me because they finally appreciate what I do. It’s a fun, family affair,” she told Extra at a launch event over the weekend ahead of the new season which begins on Tuesday.” “I think they’re more bothered about the craft services and the candy – and the talent in between. They’re really enjoying themselves,” said the no2 49-year old singer/judge.
