Returning with her 15th studio album Good Morning Gorgeous, ,Mary J. Blige is back and the R&B legend gives it her all two days before she takes to the Super Bowl halftime show stage on Sunday (2.13.)
Featuring cameo appearances from Anderson .Paak, Dave East, DJ Khaled, Fivio Foreign, and Usher, along with previously released singles “Amazing,” “Good Morning Gorgeous,” and “Rent Money.” the full length was produced by London on da Track and Cool & Dre, among others.
A recent press release states that the title track has “been used by fans on TikTok to express and promote self-love, self-empowerment, and self-care with over 40,000 total creates, and is growing 40 percent every week.”
The video for the East-featuring “Rent Money” also arrived with the record:
According to Apollo executive Kamilah Forbes who addressed waves of Blige fans waiting outside the legendary Harlem NYC theater to pay homage to the Hip Hop / soul singer:
“Miss Blige is more than the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, she is a multitalented artist who has paved the way for many of the artists we see today,” adding that Blige “is one of the defining voices of our generation” and helped “redefine what R&B and Hip-Hop could be.” The recognition allowed the Bronx-born singer to join the ranks of Aretha Franklin, Little Richard, Patti LaBelle, Quincy Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, Smokey Robinson, and the Temptations.
The five years between 2017’s Strength of a Woman and Good Morning Gorgeous marked the longest stretch between Blige albums, and concurrent with her new LP, teenage wünderkind deejays Amira & Kayla have remixed ‘Spinnin’ by Jam & Lewis x Mary J. Blige.
