In preparation for the 2022-23 NFL season, ESPN has retained Marshmello to remix the classic Monday Night Football theme song.
During Monday night’s (9.12) NFL season opener between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks – airing at 8pm on ESPN, ABC, ESPN2 and ESPN+ – the world famous deejay/producer/artist will release the first-ever remix of the “Heavy Action” theme song.
In a statement about this involvement the musician (born Christopher Comstock) said “Working with ESPN is a dream come true as Monday Night Football and the NFL have been a part of my life ever since I can remember,” “Having the opportunity to put my own spin on an iconic song that NFL fans everywhere recognize was an amazing opportunity.”
Creative music director for ESPN, Kevin Wilson added, “Our goal was to take the classic Monday Night Football music and add a contemporary vibe to it. To get there, we wanted to enlist an artist, a move we have never previously done with a ‘Heavy Action’ remix.”
in addition to the remix, Marshmello will serve as the network’s official NFL music curator responsible for soundtracking Monday Night Football‘s weekly promotional spots, starting with his new single “Grown Man” being used to welcome Russell Wilson back to Seattle for his first face-off with his former team.
