In honor of Valentine’s Day, Mariah Carey‘s bringing the romance to Snapchat.
On Saturday (Feb. 5) the multi-Grammy award winning chanteuse asked participants to demonstrate how they’re spending the day of love to her 1995 classic, “Always Be My Baby.” Those who participate in the Spotlight Valentine’s Challenge have a chance to win a share of $100,000 with the top Snap receiving $50,000, and second and third place winners getting a $30,000 and $20,000 prize respectively.
Entering the frame of her own Valentine’s Day Snapchat, Carey’s longtime boyfriend Bryan Tanaka is seen filling her champagne glass with her own Black Irish liqueur brand along with a heart-shaped box of chocolates.
On the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated May 4, 1996, Mariah’s “Always Be My Baby” secured the #1 position for the second time after her Boyz II Men collaboration “One Sweet Day” had reigned for a then-unprecedented 16 weeks beginning in December 1995.
“… Baby” became Carey’s 11th Hot 100 chart topper tying her at the time with Whitney Houston and Madonna for the most among female musicians, but when “Honey,” from 1997’s Butterfly, topped the chart on Sept. 13, 1997, Carey took over the the title which stands to this day.
