At the stroke of midnight on Halloween and 46 days prior to the official winter holiday date, Mariah Carey dropped her new Christmas video.
As the clock counts down the seconds until 12:00am a vault opens, revealing the Grammy award winning songstress embedded in a block of ice. Four characters donning Halloween costumes, free Carey using hairdryers as she proclaims, “It’s time!” The video ends with Mariah dancing to “All I Want For Christmas Is You” as snow falls.
Marking her longest Christmas-season tour to date, the 13-date trek will be her first set of country-wide shows since 2019.Carey kicks off her Merry Christmas One and All! tour on November 15 in Highland, California and wrapping up on December 17 in New York at Madison Square Garden.
The superstar singer/songwriter launched her Christmas shows in 2014 with her All I Want for Christmas Is You mini-residencies at New York’s Beacon Theatre. In 2017, she added a Las Vegas run and European dates. In 2018, it was exclusively shown in Europe before returning to North America in 2019 for a collection of gigs. And following a pandemic-induced break, Mariah brought her holiday season live shows back to just New York and Toronto last winter.
Forever associated with the winter holiday, Carey’s 1994 hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has become a modern standard that went to #1 in 2019.
