Six year since her last solo repertoire, Mariah Carey has released ‘Type Dangerous.’
After taking to social media with a glamorous sports car teaser, about her 16th studio LP, fans of the iconic singer/songwriter have been given the first offering of what’s to come that samples legendary hip-hop trio Eric B. and Rakim’s 1986 cut ‘Eric B. Is President’.
In a statement about her musical return, the now 56-year old songstress said “I’ve been locked up in the studio for quite some time working my behind off on new music, and I’m thrilled for the unveiling of it to my fans, starting with Type Dangerous!”
The first single comes shortly after Anderson .Paak revealed he’s been working on Mariah’s first album since 2018’s Caution.
During his appearance on social media series Track Star, the 39-year-old singer/producer let the news slip when he correctly guessed Carey’s 1996 track ‘Always Be My Baby.’ While wearing a T-shirt featuring Mariah’s face, .Paak said “I remember in like 5th grade, or something, watching the music videos and having a huge crush. We’re working on some music on her new album.”
The musical duo’s studio alliance comes after the pair were romantically linked in March when they were spotted holding hands after the iHeartRadio Music Awards and were also spotted leaving a restaurant together around the same time.
In 2024, Mariah celebrated two decades since the release of her ‘Emancipation of Mimi’ full length.
