Following a serious bacterial infection that sent her to the intensive care unit, Madonna has opted to postpone her Celebration tour.
In a statement about her recent medical issues, the superstar’s manager, Guy Oseary, stated:
“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU.” “Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.”
“At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
Born Madonna Louise Ciccone, the now 64-year-old pop icon was scheduled to start the North America leg of her world tour, celebrating the 40th anniversary of her musical career, in Vancouver, Canada, on 15 July.
Prior to her hospitalization, Madonna had planned to perform in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and other cities before traveling to Europe where she was set to play London, Paris and Barcelona, prior to wrapping up the trek in the United States.
