Assembling a superlative list of collaborations, LL COOL J has announced The FORCE, his first full length in 11 years, produced by Q-Tip. And ahead of the album’s September 6 release c/o Def Jam Recordings/Virgin Music Group, the iconic rapper dropped the LP’s second single “Passion.’
Featuring the likes of Eminem, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Saweetie, and Busta Rhymes, these is just some of the A-list talent included in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees 14th studio LP and his first since Authentic (2013.)
In a statement about his new collection, the musician, born James Todd Smith, said “We’re talking 14 tracks of straight fire, all crafted by myself and the one and only Q-Tip.”“When you listen to this album, you’re not just hearing music, you’re experiencing a whole new vibe, a whole new level of artistic passion.”A
Short for Frequencies of Real Creative Energy – the now 56-year old Hip Hop icon likened his years working on THE FORCE full length as “learning how to rap again.” “It’s like a director going back to film school after he’s had blockbusters.” “Denzel going back to acting class.”
In 2023 while announcing his first arena tour in 30 years, LL first teased The FORCE, and similar to his new album, that trek was a star-studded event featuring appearances by the Roots, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Salt-N-Pepa, Queen Latifah, Rakim, Common, MC Lyte, Method Man & Redman, Big Boi, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and others throughout select cities.
