In support of the title track from her most recent album, Lizzo just released a new music video for “Special.”
Wearing a mask and costume as she fights crime, saves small children from oncoming cars, and pulls babies out of burning buildings, the Christian Breslauer-directed visual sees Lizzo playing a diner waitress who moonlights as a super heroine.
The ‘Special’ video arrives days before the superstar musician (born Melissa Viviane Jefferson) will perform and compete for several awards at this years Grammys, where Lizzo is nominated for all three major categories, including Record and Song of the Year for “About Damn Time,” and Album of the Year for Special. The LP is also up for Best Pop Vocal Album, and “About Damn Time” for Best Pop Solo Performance (she won the latter prize in 2020 for “Truth Hurts”).
Following this Sunday’s Grammys, Lizzo will kick off an extensive tour of the U.K. and Europe, with dates scheduled throughout March and the North American leg launches in April.
