While pulling double duty as, both, host and musical guest on the April 15 episode of Saturday Night Live, Lizzo debuted her two new songs “About Damn Time” and “Special.”
Donning a bright pink dress, the superstar singer/songwriter (born Melissa Viviane Jefferson) belted out the slow-burning, empowering R&B track against a wall of twinkling LED lights and back up band.
Forty-eight hours after she released her first new single in years, the Atlantic Records recording artist delivered her retro 70s, Disco-influenced “About Damn Time,” complete with flute solo alongside four dancers in neon bodysuits.
Lizzo’s SNL gig comes just days after the singer confirmed that she’d be releasing her sophomore album Special on July 15 that follows her 2019 Cuz I Love You LP featuring hit singles including “Truth Hurts,” “Juice,” “Good as Hell” and “Tempo” with Missy Elliott.
