Taking to her official Instagram page, Lizzo has hit back at the fat-shamers who’s made jokes about her body.
Along with a picture of the Grammy award winning musician lounging in a yellow-and-black snakeskin bikini, the superstar singer/songwriter wrote:
“Today I saw a fat joke about me – in 2025 – and it was viral.” “It was a dumb joke, and they were just laughing at me because I’m fat… Let me be a reminder to everyone to never let anyone shame you for what you choose to do with your body. Because when you’re big, they talk s**t; when you’re small, they talk s**t. Your body will never be good enough for them because it’s not for them. It’s for you.” “If I get a BBL, mind ur business. If I lose 100lbs, mind ur business. If I gain every pound back and then some… mind ur f**king business.” “Anyways, my fat ass stays living with a paid-off mortgage in y’all b**ches heads.”
Having battled body-shaming trolls for the entirety of her mainstream pop career, it was earlier this year, on an episode of the Just Trish podcast, that the artist (born Melissa Viviane Jefferson) revealed that she tried Ozempic, but ultimately settled on changing her diet for her personal weight loss journey.
Lizzo’s response to her naysayers comes several days after she made headlines with a Substack essay she published under the title, Cancel Me (Again): A ‘Cancelled’ Woman’s Take on Why Everyone Should Get Cancelled at Least Once.
“Not everybody liked my most recent essay, and that’s exactly why I wrote it.” “I deserve to be able to express myself like everyone else. I’m human, I’ve earned the right to be wrong, to be prickly and unlikable sometimes. It’s liberating for a recovering chronic people-pleaser like me. Thank you for your comments and criticisms. I welcome it all,” shared Lizzo in a follow-up post.
