Though it never came to fruition, Lil Nas X came close to working with Taylor Swift.
In an interview with E! News, the rap artist confirmed that while the female pop superstar offered him the chance to perform a verse on one of her songs, the “vibe” of the track didn’t work for him so he passed on the opportunity, stating “We were working on something.” “She offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldn’t catch a vibe for it, so it didn’t happen.”
While that specific song didn’t work out, the rapper (born Montero Lamar Hill) hopes to collaborate with the multi-Grammy award winner in the future, adding, “When it happens… Global. World. Tay-tay and Nassy.”
Grateful that Taylor considered him, Lil Nas added “I’m proud of my girl.” “I love the album. She’s been doing her thing. She’s at the very tippety top. I’m thankful that she even considered me.”
Throughout the course of her career, the now 35-year-old Swift has collaborated with the Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Future, Ice Spice and Haim, and on her most recent LP, The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor worked with Post Malone on the lead single, ‘Fortnight,’ and Florence and the Machine on the track ‘Florida!!!’
