On the heels of his work on “Tough” with Lana Del Rey, Quavo has collaborated with Lenny Kravitz, on “Fly,” an updated version his “Fly Away.”
Having connected earlier this year when the Atlanta-born rapper (born Quavious Keyate Marshall) honored Kravitz at a Black Music Collective event, the superstar duo just dropped the Jake Nava-directed music video for the track:
During that BMC tribute to the iconic rocker, Quavo, George Clinton, Earth, Wind & Fire’s Verdine White, and Andrew Watt performed “Fly Away,” which planted the seeds for the new single.
In addition to sampling the 1998 single’s riff, Lenny contributed newly recorded vocals for the updated track as well as joining Quavo on some verses as the duo sang “Put some feathers on my drip ’cause I’m fly.” “Diamonds twinkle every time I’m outside / They almost brighter than the stars and the ice.”
Earlier this year, Kravitz released his latest album, Blue Electric Light and Quavo’s last solo album was 2023’s Rocket Power.
