Lady Gaga’s SNL Performance: Look + Listen

Performing of two songs from her brand new LP Mayhem, on March 08, Lady Gaga returned to Saturday Night Live as musical guest and the host.

The multi-Grammy award winner opened with the dance-pop “Abracadabra,” followed by her funk-inspired “Killah.”

About her first solo studio album in half a decade, the musician (born Stefani Angelina Germanotta) recently told Rolling Stone that her latest collection is a return to the dark feel of her first two albums, The Fame Monster and Born This Way, adding “It was really powerful.” “Maybe the last four or so albums I’ve made, I moved away from that and tried some different things, but this was a return to those Gothic dreams.”

Preempting the release of her new full length, during her Australian radio show interview on Fifi, Fev & Nick, the songstress explained how she decided on the title, adding “This album has so many different genres on it; from ‘90s grunge, industrial music, to funk music, ‘80s synth pop… it’s all my favorite things in a blender,” she said. “It’s why I called it Mayhem – because it’s chaos.”

Not the first time the superstar singer/songwriter pulled double duty on SNL, Saturday marked Gaga’s second time hosting SNL and her fifth time as musical guest. Her most recent performance on America’s longest running skit comedy TV show was in October 2016 in support of that year’s album, Joanne.
