Kim Petras Wants To Be Dropped

Alleging that her record label “refused” to set a release date for Detour, her forthcoming full length, Kim Petras has asked to be “dropped” from her record label.

Now 33-years-old, the Grammy award winner took to X with the request that Republic Records let her out of her deal, writing “I’m tired of having no control over my own life or career.” “I want to continue to self fund and self curate my own music.” “This is why I have formally requested to be dropped by @RepublicRecords.”

Claiming that the record company has yet to confirm a proper release date for the follow-up to 2023 releases Feed The Beast and Problematique, the The German-born singer added “My album has been done for 6 months but my record label has refused to give me a release date or pay my collaborator’s for the work they’ve done.”

Having collaborated with Sam Smith on ‘Gloria’ from his 2023 album Gloria, the transgender musician opened up about an untitled music video she’s waiting to unveil,, alleging “Oh ya I also filmed and self funded a music video over 2 months ago for my next single that they also wouldn’t give me a release date for.” “Best MV I’ve ever done btw… 9 looks 6 setups 13 pairs of shoes…”

Accusing the music industry of prioritizing social media trends and “queerbaiting s***”, while insisting her new music is “tea,” Petras continues “I won a grammy 2 years ago… the music is TEA. Still no support.” “If it’s not a tiktok trend or 80s revival queerbaiting s*** these labels have no interest in supporting. (sic)”

Notwithstanding the above, Kim assured fans that her third LP will be released “regardless” of the situation with her label, who are yet to publicly respond, concluding “My fans have waited long enough. I love u guys. I’m dropping Detour regardless. (sic)”
