It’s official! 17-time Grammy award winer Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans in February.
Standing on a football field in front of a giant USA flag, the superstar musician shared the exciting news in a YouTube video saying “My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX.” “Will you be pulling up? I hope so.” “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date.” “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
In a formal press release, Sponsor Apple Music and the NFL confirmed the news and shared a promotional poster on X that showed Lamar sitting on a football field.
Seth Dudowsky, NFL’s head of music, added, “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar. Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.”
The 2024 Super Bowl halftime show featured Usher, who was joined by Alicia Keys, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris.
Super Bowl LIX will be played on February 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
