Following his slew of Grammy nominations for Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers, Kendrick Lamar dropped a new visual for the album cut “Rich Spirit.”
Directed by Calmatic, the clip follows the superstar rapper/writer as he dances through an über chic empty home. Ripe with interesting touches, like Lamar chatting on a disconnected phone and consuming a late-night snack while sitting on a kitchen island in the dark, the “Rich Spirit” video ends when the unplugged phone suddenly rings.
Earning eight nominations for the 65th Grammy Awards, (was just one fewer than Beyoncé,) Kendrick’s work has been recognized in all of the RIAA major categories, including Album of the Year (for Mr. Morale) and Record and Song of the Year (for ‘The Heart Part 5’,) Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance and Song, and Best Melodic Rap Performance (for ‘Die Hard’.)
His fifth studio album and first in five years following 2017’s Damn, Kendrick Lamar released Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers back in May.
