It’s official! Jennifer Lopez has formally filed for divorce from Ben Affleck.
Exactly two years to the day since they were wed in an over-the-top ceremony in Georgia, the now 55-year-old singer/actress submitted divorce paperwork on Tuesday (8.20) to Los Angeles Superior Court, according to TMZ.
Listing the date of separation as April 26, 2024, Lopez filed the paperwork by herself and without a lawyer.
Though the documents did not confirm whether or not a prenup was in place, insiders have told TMZ there is no prenuptial agreement, thus all the money the duo earned during the marriage is “community property.” However, the paperwork showed that Lopez has waived spousal support and has asked the judge to deny Affleck the same.
J-Lo’s latest divorce news comes after months of speculation that the celebrity couple’s marriage was over as the two have been living separately and spending their individuals birthdays and wedding anniversary apart. Rumors about their relationship troubles started to circulate after Ben did not attend the Met Gala with Jennifer in May.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were originally engaged in 2003 but called off the wedding. They rekindled their romance almost two decades later, before getting married in Las Vegas in July 2022.
