Hattie White, Jay-Z‘s grandmother, has celebrated her one hundredth trip around the sun.
On Sunday (9.28,) a number of celebrity guests – including Stevie Wonder – took to social media to share images from White’s special day.
Alongside a video of Wonder performing, on Monday (9.29) Jay-Z’s mother-in-law, Tina Knowles, shared the following Instagram message:
“Stevie said Happy Birthday to Ms Hattie White, the mayor of Brooklyn declared Sunday Ms Hattie White Day!” “The elegant, classy, beautiful lady turned 100 and was celebrated by her family and friends at a party, fit for the Queen she is! Stevie Wonder, one of her favorite artists, paid tribute to her with her own private concert! Stevie reminded us of the many hits that he’s made! We dance the night away. Those Carters know how to party!”
According to social media footage, other stars in attendance at the event included Jay-Z’s wife, Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion, Klay Thompson, Nas, Chris Martin and Memphis Bleek.
In video footage from the celebration, White gave a short speech to her friends and family, thanking them for coming:
“I want to thank you for coming out and celebrating my 100th birthday.” “May God bless all of you who have travelled the road that I have travelled.”
