Jason Derulo Addresses Sexual Harassment Accusations

On Thursday (10.05,) Jason Derulo took to Instagram to address the lawsuit filed against him by aspiring singer Emaza Gibson, who’s accused the singer of encouraging her to sign a record deal with the intention of having sexual relations.

Among other claims, Gibson, 25, filed the suit in Los Angeles accusing the now 34-year old musician of sexual harassment, breach of contract, and illegal retaliatory termination. Emaza also accused Derulo of pressuring her to drink “inappropriately large amounts of alcohol” and exhibiting aggressive behavior.

In response to the allegations, Derulo took to Instagram video stating “I wouldn’t normally comment but these claims are completely false and hurtful.””I stand against all forms of harassment and I remain supportive of anybody following their dreams.” “I’ve always strived to live my life in a positively impactful way, and that’s why I sit here before you deeply offended, by these defamatory claims. God bless.”

During an interview with NBC News earlier in the week, the plaintiff stated that Jason’s alleged behavior during the time they worked together left her “traumatized” adding “I have anxiety; I’m traumatized,” “I’ve dealt with inhumane work situations… I’m at this point where I’m back to zero and I have nothing.”

According to the lawsuit, Derulo invited Gibson to work with him in 2021, and the contract she signed reportedly required her to release a single featuring Derulo, produce a mixtape within four months, and complete an album in six months.

The aspiring singer claimed that the established artist ended their professional relationship after she turned down his sexual advances, subsequent to which she was dropped by her label, Atlantic Records, in September 2022 shortly after Jason allegedly stopped replying to her messages.
