Amid Jack White‘s National Football League (NFL) Thanksgiving Halftime Show on Thursday (11.27,) Eminem took the audience by surprise in between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers.
The White Stripes frontman took to the Ford Field stadium stage in his native Detroit, Michigan and opened the set with his 2024 song, ‘That’s How I’m Feeling,’ before launching into The White Stripes’ 2000 track, ‘Hello Operator.’
The 50-year old singer/songwriter/producer subsequently welcomed Eminem to the stage with “Ladies and gentlemen, Detroit’s own, Eminem!” as the iconic rapper rose up on a platform amid a cloud of white smoke and broke into an electrifying rendition of his 2002 hit, ‘” Till I Collapse.” And before leaving the stage, the musician (born Marshall Mathers) declared, “Detroit! Happy Thanksgiving, y’all,”
Jack ended his performance with an electrified version of The White Stripes’ mega-hit, ‘Seven Nation Army,’ as the Detroit Lions Cheerleaders performed choreography on the field.
Taking to Instagram after the gig, the rocker simply wrote, “Detroit,” and the hip-hop icon added, “Detroit thank u!!! So great to join @officialjackwhite with @iamdenaun at the @detroitlionsnfl Thanksgiving Halftime Show!”
Also attending the game was Eminem’s daughter, Hailie Jade, who posted a short video of herself at the stadium holding her baby son Elliot, who she and her husband Evan McClintock welcomed in March.
In addition to his cameo, Eminem produced the Thanksgiving Halftime Show after the 53-year-old and his longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg signed a multi-year partnership with the Detroit Lions to produce events and consult on talent selection for all aspects of halftime production through 2027.
