in the music video for his new song, “If I Die Tomorrow.” Jack White embarks on a funereal odyssey.
Appearing on the iconic musicicn’s upcoming second album of the year, Entering Heaven Alive (on July 22 via Third Man Records,) the new title is a solemn country ballad in classic White fashion vis-a-vis surreal guitar work.
“If I die tomorrow will you let me know if I left in peace,” White sings, “I begged and borrowed everybody’s love and they gave for free/And I wish that I could give it back to them/So if I die tomorrow/Will you give them all the love they lent to me.”
The accompanying video comes complete with a classic Western vibe with White dragging his own coffin across a vast landscape, eventually encountering a collection of odd figures and winding up in a six-foot hole that’s been for him.
Entering Heaven Alive follows White’s first LP of 2022 Fear of the Dawn, each of which feature different themes, inspirations, and sounds, though connected by different versions of “Taking Me Back,” that appear on each album.
