On Saturday (7.20,) a beleaguered Jennifer Lopez hosted an elaborate birthday party for herself.
Without her husband, Ben Affleck by her side, J-Lo celebrated her 55th journey ’round the sun with an over-the-top, Bridgerton-themed birthday party complete with horses, corseted ballgowns, and a string ensemble that performed orchestral versions of her greatest hits.
Captioned, “Dearest Gentle Reader… And a splendid evening was had by all,” Lopez shared a clip of the party to her Instagram page featuring her favorite moments from the lavish late-July event backed by the Netflix show’s signature theme.
Chauffeured to the gala in a white, horse-drawn carriage, Mrs. Affleck (sans Ben) is seen in the video with friends and family, including her mother Guadalupe Rodriguez, 16-year-old son Max, and longtime manager Benny Medina.
Prepared to make a wish as she blew out the candles on a four-tiered birthday cake, an outfit change the multi-hyphenate switch from her elaborate ballgown into a flowing green dress.
However festive was the event, Jenn’s husband of two years, Ben Affleck, was absent from the video with People Magazine confirming he was not in attendance. For some months now, the famous couple have been plagued by reports that their marriage has been unstable, with their Los Angeles home believed to be for sale.
Over the weekend, Ben was spotted in Los Angeles with his children Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 52.
