In celebration of her worldwide influence Jennifer Lopez will receive the global icon Generation Award at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards.
About the award, MTV said it “celebrates beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and television have turned them into household names.” Including Scarlett Johansson last year’s recipient, prior celebs to receive the trophy include Dwayne Johnson, Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, Tom Cruise, and others.
In J-Lo’s case, the multi-hyphenate comes with a long and storied career across film, television, and music, and remains the only artist to have a concurrent #1 album and #1 movie. Her most recent film, Marry Me, set viewership numbers on Peacock, when it premiered in February of this year, and her newest project, a documentary called Halftime (debuting 6.14) that focuses on her 2019 Super Bowl halftime performance, will hit Netflix on June 14.
The 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards will air live from Barker Hangar in Los Angeles on June 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT
