A half decade since their last collaboration, Reggaetón superstars Maluma and J Balvin have re-aligned musical forces on “Gafas Negras” complete with a music video.
Taking to his Instagram account, Maluma posted a clip of the visual and a throwback photo of the pair early in their careers, writing “Thank you J Balvin for being part of this Don Juan era and for believing in this chimba roject.”
Following the video’s story line, the visual ends with Balvin congratulating Maluma on his success. “I wanted to congratulate you. I’m so proud of what you’ve done. Proud of you because you’re hard, you’ve never stopped, you push forward, and you’ve become like my little brother.”
Five years since the two Colombian musicians recorded together, in 2019 the pair dropped “Qué Pena,” following their Nicky Jam and Ozuna appearance on a remix of “X” (2018,) and on Feid’s “Porfa Remix” (2020.)
“Gafas Negras” was featured on Maluma’s 2023 Don Juan album, that also included songs “Coco Loco,” “Sobrio,” and “Según Quien” with Carin Leon. Since then, the musician (born Juan Luis Londoño Arias) joined Anuel AA on “OA” and GIMS on “Si Te Llamo.”
J. Balvin (born José Álvaro Osorio Balvín,) dropped several singles last year including “Amigos,” “Let’s Go” with Will.i.am,” “Colmillo” with Tainy and Young Miko, and “Dientes” with Usher and DJ Khaled.
In October on 2023, the two Latin mega stars snapped a photo together at dinner alongside Britney Spears.
