During the first night of the Australian leg of his ‘Love On Tour’ world tour, Harry Styles complied with local tradition by drinking out of his shoe on Monday night (2.20.)
Following chants from his audience at HBF Park in Perth, the UK superstar did a ‘Shoey’, a local custom of consuming alcohol, usually beer, from ones own shoe.
After a man by the name of Scott got the crowd riled up by drinking from his own footwear, the audience started chanting “your turn” at Harry who proceeded to take off his sneaker before pouring an unknown beverage into his shoe and shaking his head in disgust. “This is one of the most disgusting traditions I’ve ever witnessed” said the the musician before putting his soggy shoe back on.”
Now 29, Styles joked “I feel like a different person. I feel ashamed of myself. It feels so personal. Such an intimate moment to be shared with so many people. It’s fine when Scott does it… I’ll be discussing this with my therapist at length. At length.”
Harry’s Down Under tour comes days after he swept the BRIT Awards earlier this month, taking home all four trophies for which he was nominated, including the Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for ‘Harry’s House’, Song of the Year for ‘As It Was’ and Best Pop/R+B Act. And prior the UK event, ‘Harry’s House’ won Best Album at the Grammys.
