By way of a special concert presented by the Recording Academy, legendary musicians Earth, Wind and Fire and Cyndi Lauper have been honored with a Grammy Salute.
Celebrating the contributions of artists, genres, or significant moments in music, the special televised programs, recorded live from the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles features live performances from a string of music legends by six-time Grammy winners Earth, Wind and Fire, and two-time award-recipient Lauper.
The Grammy Salute to Earth, Wind and Fire: The 21st Night of September, will air on Sunday, September 21 via Paramount+, and on CBS Television from 8-10pm ET/PT from the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Such memorable Earth, Wind and Fire hits as ‘September,’ ‘Let’s Groove’ and ‘Shining Star’ will feature special guests Stevie Wonder, the Jonas Brothers, Jon Batiste, 38, and Janelle Monae will make an appearance.
Filmed over the course of two nights during Cyndi’s year-long Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, the show honors the 80s pop icon’s biggest songs – including ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun,’ ‘Time After Time,’ and ‘True Colors,’- featuring special guests Joni Mitchell, Cher, Angelique Kidjo, John Legend, SZA, Mickey Guyton, Trombone Shorty, Jake Wesley Rogers, along with video tributes from Brandi Carlile, Ken Ehrlich, Harvey Mason Jr., Brian Burke, and Lisa Barbaris.
On Sunday, October 5, A Grammy Salute to Cyndi Lauper: Live from the Hollywood Bowl will also stream on Paramount+, and will be broadcast on CBS TV from 8-10pm ET/PT.
Past Grammy Salute recipients include The Beatles, Prince, and Neil Diamond.
