Due to frontman John Rzeznik’s illness, the Goo Goo Dolls were forced to cancel their upcoming tour dates.
Taking to social media on Sunday (4.05,), the rock band’s representative confirmed via Instagram that the remainder of their Canada trek was scrapped due to Rzeznik’s severe case of pneumonia, adding:
“Unfortunately, we must cancel the remaining dates on our Canadian Tour.” “John was diagnosed with pneumonia and has not fully recovered. We are very disappointed and can’t wait to get back to Canada as soon as possible.”
Unclear whether John and bandmate Robby Takac plan on returning to Canada, the Goo Goo Dolls already cancelled three schedule shows in the country, but did perform as planned in London, Ontario on Saturday evening.
Following the update, Rzeznik was inundated with well-wishes.
“That is absolutely the right decision @johnrzeznikggd ! I know how difficult it was for you to cancel these shows but health comes first and it would have been dangerous for you to continue to try to push through with pneumonia!” commented celebrity vocal coach, Eric Vetro. “I can’t believe you were able to actually make it through last night – I was really concerned and even nervous that you were going to pass out at some point and hurt yourself! Get some rest, my friend, you need it and you deserve it.”
While Canadian show ticket holders can request refunds from the point of purchase , the Dolls are next set to play at the Two Step Inn event in Georgetown, Texas on April 18.
