Memphis-born rapper GloRilla debuted as the January 17 Saturday Night Live musical guest with a performance of “Yeah Glo!” and a medley of tracks from her very first studio LP, Glorious.
After receiving several other nominations at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, BET Awards, and BET Hip Hop Awards, “Yeah Glo!,” from GloRilla’s April 2024 mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang, is also a 2025 Grammy nominee for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. Hitting the Billboard Hot 100, the song’s popularity grew exponentially after Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James was seen singing along.
Stating that the track’s success took GloRilla by surprise, in October she told the Associated Press:
“I was shocked.” “I knew it was a good song. Every time I played it for people, they loved it. I didn’t know it would go as crazy as it did.”
Since the release of “Yeah Glo!”, the rapper (born Gloria Hallelujah Woods) was praised by Beyoncé, further contributing to her appeal.
For her second SNL appearance, GloRilla paired “Whatchu Kno About Me,” (written with rapper Sexyy Red,) with “Let Her Cook.”
The most nominated artist at next month’s NAACP Image Awards, GloRilla opened for “Wanna Be” co-writer Megan Thee Stallion last year during U.S. dates for her Hot Girl Summer tour. Around that time, her summer standout song was “TGIF,” also from Glorious.
GloRilla’s next scheduled show is Sunday (1.19) in Detroit, followed by dates next month in California and Arizona, and then stops in Texas in March. She is also booked for Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee this June.
