A new television commercial for Beats headphones featuring Olympic disqualified runner Sha’Carri Richardson alongside “No Child Left Behind,” the first taste of a song produced by EDM artist Gessafelstein from the new Kanye West album.
The snippet of “No Child … ” continues the gospel-inspired feel that remains a cornerstone of West’s recent works, including Jesus Is King, as the lyrics reference God with “he’s done miracles on me” refrains.
Kanye advocates spent the lion’s share of last summer wondering when the mega-rapper would release his next LP and the musician’s 10th studio full length was soon forgotten until Justin LaBoy broke the news via Twitter that not only was Donda finished, but it was set for a July 23 release. Still, fans remained unconvinced until Live Nation formally announced the July 22 listening event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Rumors about the album began to circulate – i.e. will the project address his recent divorce from Kim Kardashian? But instead Donda, was created to honor West’s late mother, their relationship to God, and might even include spoken vocal samples of the woman who raised him.
