Garbage Drop ‘Get Out My Face …’: Look + Listen

The second song from their forthcoming LP, Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, Garbage drops a “Get Out My Face AKA Bad Kitty.”

Amid the collection of lead guitars and thumping bass lines, lead singer Shirley Manson’s vocals address patriarchal systems with bold energy with biting lyricism.

About the song’s subtitle born from the instrumental demo originally sent to Manson during early sessions, the band’s front woman said:

“When I was young, I didn’t really notice how things worked.” “But as I’ve grown older, I’ve seen how the game is rigged—especially against women, minorities, LGBTQ+ people, and marginalized communities. The rollback of women’s rights in the U.S. is nothing short of terrifying,” Adding that the groups new LP channels resilience and clarity amid global chaos, “We needed to find a thread of light, however faint, to pull us through.”

The legendary band’s latest single follows their 2021 LP, No Gods No Masters that The New York Times called a “thrumming mix of goth and orchestral pop.”

Still intact after three decades together, Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, signals Garbage’s return with all four original members – including Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig . And with 20,000,000+ albums sold, the band’s signature blend of alt-rock and electronic grit continues to evolve while staying unapologetically outspoken.

In support of their May 30 released full length, Garbage will launch their first major North American headline trek in some ten years, their “Happy Endings” tour will include shows at such iconic venues as Brooklyn’s Paramount, D.C.’s The Anthem, and San Francisco’s The Warfield.
