Freddie Mercury’s Secret Daughter: Dead At 48

On Thursday (1.15,) the family of the woman, identified as Bibi (the alleged secret child of legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury) shared that she had died at the age of 48 after a battle with cancer.

In a statement to The Daily Mail in England, her husband, Thomas said that his wife passed “peacefully” after a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, leaving two sons aged nine and seven, adding “B is now with her beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts. Her ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps.”

According to author Lesley-Ann Jones’ biography on the Queen rocker, Love, Freddie, Page Six reported that at the height of his career in 1976 Bibi was born to Mercury and the wife of one of his friends in 1976.

It was only months before her death, after having taken a DNA test to confirm the singer as her father, did Bibi reveal her identity as Mercury’s daughter in the book, writing “For 30 years, I had to build my life and family without him and accept that he wouldn’t be there to share the happy moments with us.”

Diagnosed with the disease at a young age before going into remission, Bibi, who worked as a doctor and lived in France, had battled the rare cancer most of her life.

Prior to the September release of Love, Freddie, the highly guarded secret was known only to the iconic rocker’s nearest and dearest – including his longtime love, Mary Austin, his parents, and his sister – for nearly half a century.

Freddie Mercury died in 1991.
