FKA Twigs Addresses Brutal Moments

After settling her domestic abuse lawsuit against her then boyfriend, actor Shia LaBeouf, FKA Twigs has spoken candidly about overcoming what she described as “brutal and violent” moments in her life.

Opening up about the challenging chapter in her life, the British singer/songwriter/dancer finally settled the lawsuit in July four years after the filing, requesting to dismiss the case “with prejudice,” meaning the claims cannot be refiled at a later date.

In a recent Elle interview, the now 37-year old musician reflected on that difficult time in her life and how it has shaped her perspective, stating:

“I’m reaching that age where I can really look back at my life and I can see so many things that have been beautiful and amazing, and other things that have been really brutal and violent.” “I’m realising that I can hold my love of life and my artistry and the beauty of my life, and I can also hold the brutality and the sadness and the violence.” “I can hold things at the same time, and that feels really good.”

Seeking $10,000,000 in damages for alleged sexual battery, assault and emotional distress during the year-long relationship from 2018 to 2019, the singer born Tahliah Barnett, filed the lawsuit in December 2020. And, in a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, admitted that she still doesn’t “feel safe” following the lawsuit dismissal, adding:

“I wouldn’t say I feel safe.” “I feel really passionate about being involved with organizations such as Sistah Space and No More, to help survivors in any way that I can.”
