GloRilla is “devastated and heartbroken” by the death of two fans following her Sunday (3.05) concert,
Shortly after the rapper’s show at the Main Street Armory in Rochester, New York, two people died and eight were injured during the crowd stampede.
According to Rochester police officials, after mistakenly thinking they heard gun shots, fans ran to the venue exits during which time several people were trampled in the ensuing crowd crush.
Reacting to the tragedy, GloRilla (born Gloria Woods) took to Twitter on Monday night with “I am devastated & heartbroken over the tragic deaths that happened after Sunday’s show. My fans mean the world to me (crying emoji) praying for their families & for a speedy recovery of everyone affected (praying emoji).”
In an earlier tweet, the Grammy-nominated musician claimed that she was unaware of the incident, writing “I’m just now hearing about what happened wtf (what the f**k),” she tweeted. “Praying everybody is ok (praying emoji).”
After being found inside the auditorium, Rhondesia Belton, 33, died in hospital ,while a 35-year-old woman, who’s not been named, also died from her sustained injuries. One woman remains in critical condition, while seven others have been treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigations are currently underway to determine whether the venue’s owners followed the proper safety protocols and its next show, a performance by A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie on Saturday (3.11), has been cancelled.
