Scheduled for October 29 release, Ed Sheeran has just announced his fifth studio album, = (pronounced equals.)
Along with the news of his latest LP, the Atlantic Records artist just released Visiting Hours as the first single.
Featuring 14 songs, the first single from the forthcoming full length is a tribute to his friend and mentor, Australian music mogul, Michael Gudinski who recently passed away. And while on holiday with his family, the über-successful singer/songwriter said the album’s butterfly artwork represents “new life – I’ve been through, over the last four years, different experiences in life, including getting married, having a kid, losing a friend”.
Generating $776,000,000 from 260 concerts and 8,500,000 tickets sold, Sheeran embarked on a world tour that lasted two and a half years and became the highest-grossing and most-attended tour of all time, after releasing his third album, 2017’s ÷. During the trek he completed 2019’s No 6 Collaborations Project, a collaborative album with the likes of Justin Bieber, Eminem and Stormzy.
Ed Sheeran is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut album + and in September 2020, Ed announced the birth of his first child, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, with wife Cherry Seaborn, who he married in 2019.
