Drake Deposed In XXXTentacion Murder Trial

As part of the murder trial of rapper XXXTentacion, Drake has been subpoenaed to sit for a deposition or appear in court.

Accused of killing the 20-year-old rapper, born Jahseh Onfroy, during a robbery outside a shop in June of 2018, suspects Michael Boatwright, Trayvon Newsome, and Dedrick Williams went on trial in Florida earlier this week.

Williams’ defense attorney Mauricio Padilla has alleged that Drake, (born Aubrey Graham) is connected to Onfroy’s death and allegedly attempted to subpoena the superstar rapper for a deposition in order to provide evidence under oath, at the end of January. Because Drake did not show up Padilla subsequently filed a petition to force him to sit for a deposition on February 24 and a judge granted the order on Thursday (2.09.)

According to Rolling Stone, the official document read “If deponent Aubrey Drake Graham does not appear to deposition he must appear before this court on Monday Feb. 27, 2023 at 10 a.m. EST at so (sic) the court can determine why he should not be held in contempt,”

During his 2.07 opening arguments Padilla referred to an alleged feud between the two rappers, specifically citing a February 2018 Instagram Stories post on Onfroy’s page that read, “If anyone tries to kill me it was @champagnepapi (Drake’s handle). I’m snitching right now.” He subsequently deleted the post and insisted he was hacked.

The supposed entanglement began in 2017 when Onfroy believed Drake ripped off his song ‘Look At Me!’ with his track ‘KMT,’ and the younger rapper escalated the feud by trolling Drake several times on social media.
