Doja Cat Responds To Oscars Performance Criticism: Look + Listen

Following her part in the tribute to James Bond, Doja Cat has addressed criticism of her performance at the 2025 Academy Awards.

Born Amala Dlamini, the singer/songwriter joined Raye and Blackpink’s Lisa to perform a medley of 007 movie theme songs at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday night (3.02.)

Originally recorded by Shirley Bassey for the 1971 spy film of the same name, for her part Doja sang ‘Diamonds Are Forever.’ However, after critics accused the 29-year old of not hitting all the high notes, on Monday (3.03,) and and confessed that the “nerves got to me,” adding:

“Thanks to the Academy Awards and Vanity Fair for having me. I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary as f**k for me.” “I know a lot of people didn’t like it but a lot of people did and I feel good that I pushed myself.” “The song is a classic and I put a lot of work into it but the nerves got to me and a b**ch hit some flats. I can’t wait to do something like that again. What a blessing that was. I feel amazing about the whole thing. Bye.” “ALL the girls chewed down last night God BLESS them all. Absolutely gorgeous performances from everyone.”
