Doechii Is Billboard’s 2025 Woman Of The Year

Taking place on March 29 at the YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California, Doechii will be presented with the Woman of the Year award at the 2025 Billboard Women in Music event, two years after the superstar rapper won the 2023 Rising Star award at the same show.

Following in the musical footsteps of Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, the hitmaker (born Jaylah Hickmon) is only the third artist to be named Woman of the Year after taking home the Rising Star trophy, and is only the second rap artist to win the award, after Cardi B in 2020.

Only the third woman after Lauryn Hill in 1996 and Cardi in 2019 to win in this category, in February, Doechii won the Grammy for Best Rap Album for her critically acclaimed mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal. The now 26-year old was also named Outstanding New Artist at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards.

In a statement about this years winner, Editor-in-Chief of Billboard, Hannah Karp, said:

“Doechii is taking pop culture by storm, this year becoming the third woman in history to win a Grammy best rap album, and dazzling fans of every musical genre with her breathtaking performances, ultra-candid lyrics and utterly unique sound, style and spirit. We are thrilled to celebrate Doechii and cheer on her continued success.”

Previous Billboard Woman of the Year recipients include Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Madonna, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish and last year’s honoree, Karol G.
