Doechii Defends Herself Online

Responding to online criticism during certain situations, in a recent Cosmopolitan interview Doechii confirmed that she will not hesitate to defend herself, stating:

“Am I going to be constantly online responding? No, that’s not something I like to practice.” “But I do 100 per cent believe that there are times and places to defend myself. If that happens to be through the internet, then maybe.”

Adding that that she can’t respond to everything, the recent Grammy Award winning musician told the publication, “But it’s not sustainable for me to constantly be going back and forth and reacting to people online.”

Born Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon, the musician’s comments come months after social media users accused her of lip-syncing during her performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

“That is my DJ’s voice picking up on the lines that I can’t say because I was doing a somersault. That entire performance was live!,” denied Doechii at the time in a video message. And during her interview, she reflected on her response to the accusation, stating:

“With the Grammys, I was halfway joking.””Like, please don’t play with me. I don’t cheat. I don’t cut corners, and I take my performances really seriously. So I was clapping back a little bit.”

Now 26-years of age, the American born superstar singer/songwriter won Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal at the ceremony, making her the third female artist to win in the category.
